Mrs Oluwatoyin Adefunke Mbaba was born on 28th November 1955 in Sokoto State to Mr Shittu Adebanjo-Sule and Mrs Ruth Adetoun Adebanjo-Sule (nee Okeowo) (both of blessed memory).She attended St Barnabas Primary School Okunowa and proceeded to Methodist High School Ifo for her secondary school education. She graduated from Kwara State College of Technology with an HND in Business Administration and Completed her National Youth Service in Makurdi, where she developed an appetite for travelling.

Oluwatoyin started her career in banking and worked in the National bank of Nigeria for a while, but decided to pursue her passion and interest in international affairs by taking up employment in the Ministry of External Affairs in Lagos, Nigeria.

She married Dr Chris Mbaba in 1987.

She was posted to a number of countries as a diplomatic officer; Switzerland, Mozambique, to name a few. Her last diplomatic assignment was to the Nigerian Consular office in China. After a long and fruitful career in the diplomatic services, she retired in 2019 and lived in Abuja.

Oluwatoyin was a committed loving Christian. she was a dedicated and caring person, she always looked out for family and young people who needed support. That attribute is reflected in the testimonies from all over the world from people and lives of those she had been a blessing to.

She was known for her beautiful smile and joyful disposition.

Oluwatoyin is survived by one daughter and one grandchild but she is known to have many adopted daughters, sons and grandchildren.
